You Are Not Behind: The Slow Work of Spiritual Formation
Many of us carry a quiet lie. It whispers that we should be further along by now.
More mature. More healed. More disciplined. More certain.
But the Kingdom of God does not move according to our anxious pace.
Formation is slow.
Healing is gentle.
God is never in a hurry.
Our culture values busyness and being seen. We often measure worth by what we produce and impact by numbers. Even in our spiritual lives, we can feel pressure to improve, conquer habits, master disciplines, and fix ourselves.
But Jesus never hurried transformation.
He invited abiding.
“If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit…” — John 15:5
Fruit grows quietly. Roots grow unseen. Neither can be forced.
You are not behind.
If you are still wrestling, still asking questions, still longing for a deeper connection, that is not failure. That is formation. The soul does not flourish under pressure. It flourishes in the presence.
At Nourish Your Soul, we believe formation happens slowly and that you need to allow yourself time. God is more interested in who you are becoming than how quickly you get there.
Maybe today the invitation is not to strive - but to remain:
Not to fix
but to sit.
Not to compare
but to trust.
You are not behind.
You are becoming.
